About the Life Skills Program

Aktivitas Life Skills UGM Residence
Kegiatan Life Skills bagi mahasiswa penghuni UGM Residence.

As a form of commitment and care from the Universitas Gadjah Mada Residence management towards **individual character building** in accordance with the UGM statute and ideals, UGM Residence has established the **Life Skills Program**. This program is carried out throughout the one-year residency period in the dormitory.

**Participation in this activity is mandatory** for all residents living within the Universitas Gadjah Mada Residence environment.

Concept and Core Focus

The concept of **Life Skills** is an evolution of the term commonly known as *Emotional Intelligence*. Life Skills, in this context, are defined as abilities that primarily emphasize **intra- and interpersonal skills**.

Expected Outcomes and UGM Values

Through these life skills activities, student residents of the UGM Residence are expected to be able to implement and possess the fundamental values of life as citizens of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM):

  • Demonstrate good behavior, politeness, and uphold ethics (unggah-ungguh).
  • Cultivate a sense of mutual care among fellow UGM citizens.
  • Understand and implement the philosophy and noble values taught by UGM's founders.
  • Develop strong alumni bonds.
  • Practice *Pancasila* and prioritize the principle of kinship while striving for the welfare of mankind.

As dormitory residents, students should not only excel academically but also demonstrate **leadership aptitude** and the ability to implement *cipta*, *rasa*, and *karsa* (thought, feeling, and will).

Implementation Principles

To ensure the Life Skills Program runs according to the established curriculum, regulations are based on the following principles:

  • Utility (Kemanfaatan):

The added benefit gained by students living in the dormitory is the opportunity to participate in life skills, thus all residents are directed to utilize this opportunity optimally.

  • Equality (Kesetaraan):

Students residing in the dormitory have equal rights and obligations in participating in dormitory activities.

  • Care (Kepedulian):

Students residing in the dormitory are knowledgeable about and understand the dormitory environment and the rules that encompass it.
